Es Canar

Es Cana is situated on the coast on the eastern side of the island approximately 5 km north of

Santa Eulalia del Rio. It is well served by hotels, bars, restaurants and shops and has a safe

sandy, gently shelving beach approximately 200 mtrs long running from the town centre to the

what was the Miami Hotel and has several beach bars available for drinks and meals nestling in

amongst the pine trees which fringe the beach and are ideal for those who prefer a little shade.

The beach is normally very British and is enjoyed generally by families although all age groups

and nationalities are catered for.

Sunbeds and umbrellas are available at ?? euros each per day and waterskiing,

parascending, pedalos and other watersports are available at Ski Pepe.

In the centre of town there is a bus terminus, a taxi rank and there is a ferry point in the harbour
where you can take ferries anywhere down the coast to for example Sta.Eulalia, Cala LLonga
and Ibiza Town together with glass boat trips towards the north of the island.

The promenade has been totally revamped and is now effectively traffic free.

Half a kilometre outside Es Cana is Punta Arabi where the weekly "Hippy Market" is held and is
ok for leather goods, jewellery and curios. You should be aware of the pickpockets and
bagsnatchers that always frequent the market together with the "shell and card sharks" on the
pavements who will happily take all your holiday money. Also be aware if you are travelling from
south of Es Cana as you may be caught in a 4km traffic queue !

Evenings are limited to local tourist shopping that normally close about 10.00pm and to hotel
entertainment or one of the many bars that front the small harbour which are obliged to stop
"public" music at midnight.

There are also a couple of small clubs and British pubs serving "known brands" of beer and
local stallholders selling jewellery.

You may be lucky enough to chance upon one of the local fiestas (usually July 10 / 11) with
locals dressing up and parading through the town, having a paella cooking competition in the
woods.

The area is well served by hotels and apartments, generally within 200mtrs of the beach.
